This was so cool. They have carriages all over Charleston like this, but this one was all dressed up for a wedding. I didn't see many people besides the guy here and the bride and groom. I love how he looks so formal with the top hat and everything.
You know what's kind of interesting about this picture? If you stay to the right of the carriage, it can look like an old time photo, but if you look just a little to the left, you catch the light post and the graffiti. It brings you straight back to the modern world.
You know, I didn't even notice that. : D I just took a shot at it since it was something that you don't see every day, even for weddings. Let me ask you something...what do you think of my more washed out photography?
Thanks. I had somebody tell me I should stop and do normal and black & white photos, then she said I wouldn't be an artist if I didn't try new things. I mean, it doesn't feel very artistic just enhancing photos or clicking the "black & white" button and she should know I've tried it before being on my watch list. I love the vintage style, even though it's not black and white. She didn't really say it, but basically she called me "fake" for liking it since a bunch of other people like it, too. I told her it was my style and it was me and she was like, "no it's not because everybody else likes it."
Sorry for ranting off on you like that!! ^^ I'm just real pissed off about it. I mean, her photos aren't even good. P:
Art is about doing what you like to do, not doing what everyone else wants you do (unless you're trying to make money. o.o; )
Is she the one who commented on the pier picture? I saw the first one there that said it was their favorite or something.
Don't pay any mind to it. Do what you enjoy. I get crap from people sometimes for drawing "anime", but you know what? I enjoy it, and I'm not going to stop.
If they like black and white, then they can go look at a black and white gallery on someone else page.
Yeah, that was the girl. But, thank you so much for that. I really needed to hear that from a fellow artist, but I wasn't going to rant off to Casa. I mean, even if I was trying to make money off of it, I think I'd make some bucks on it since it's such a "popular" style and I'm trying to improve it. Anybody can take a picture, but judging the lighting and editing and enhancing it and giving it its own thing takes an artist's eye. Oscar Wilde (I love him, you should google his quotes :]) said that an artist never sees things as they really are or he would cease to be an artist. And I think you should continue your anime, too. I wish I could draw like you to draw my characters instead of just looking for pictures and settling for some model or another person's work, but as soon as I started getting good at photography, my drawing skills started sucking. I'm taking painting and drawing next year with Casa. :]
