Hi, so I haven't made a journal since last year. I'm sure y'all have noticed that I am not exactly that active anymore. I'm on Tumblr a lot so that I see art and photos getting reposted and stollen all the time and that's made me more hesitant to post my photography online. That and I'm too lazy to post any. Maybe when I get over this hangover I'll feel more like being active on DA.
Speaking of hangovers, happy summer! It's my favorite season because I have a Polynesian soul (pretty sure I was in a past life) and I'm a beach bum, but the solstice was not very kind to me. I was on my period and having the worst hangover since September so yeah...
Anyway, the reason I'm writing this journal and becoming a little more active is because I made a new account for my writing so I can keep my writing separate from my photography/art. The account is Miss-Maam and it's pretty empty right now because I'm only working on one fanfiction right now.
If any of you are into Naruto, it is a fanfiction about my OC, Indri, who gets into trouble with her past and the Akatsuki. There's almost no canon content from Naruto other than the Narutoverse and a few characters from the Akatsuki. It is kind of a romance between Itachi and Indri, but it is more of Indri's story. I'm posting the 2nd chapter tomorrow! I post new chapters every other Monday.
Maybe I'll post some new photography up when I feel better. I'm still on my period and I think I still might be hungover too. Friday night was pretty rough. But, I was looking at my old work on here and I have actually gotten much, much better since I started the photography program at my university. We'll see...

So, I don't have a premium anymore after like years of having one. And I don't plan on getting another one, at least not right now. Why pay for something I barely use anymore just so I can have journal skins and stamps along with browsing without advertisements? But, if anyone wants to be generous, Christmas is in three months and my birthday is in like 6 months. No pressure.
I have an engagement to shoot in November. We'll see how that goes. I'm expecting it'll be a lot better than the wedding considering it will be at an actually beautiful location without florescent lights and I'll be getting paid a little better, too.
I went on a surf trip last weekend that was a beautiful photo op, but there were 25 college kids who I'd never met before or haven't known for more than a month. So, I didn't think bringing $1000 or more worth of equipment was a good idea. Maybe next time.
So far, nothing else is going on. I emailed the head of the photography department at my school to talk to her about concentrating in photography. It shouldn't be too difficult to get into.

Back to Business!

As promised, my activity has gone up since summer break started! I've been taking pictures at least once a week, and I'm certainly improving. Of course, I don't post them all. But, I've realized something since I've become more active about improving myself: I think I've found my area!
In the world of photography as a business, it's wise to pick a narrower range of subjects, like journalism, weddings/families, landscapes, etc. I think I've found what I want to work with! I want to work with animals and nature. I definitely don't mind taking pictures for my friends and family, but I love animals and being outdoors. Plus, I'm a bit shy and reserved, so being the person that everyone looks to for guidance isn't really my thing. Forget asking strangers if I can take their picture. Animals don't talk, and they're cute.
And, I'm always happier with the pictures I take of animals and nature than people. I like looking at National Geographic way more than People and Home magazines. Not to mention, I really don't like lovey-dovey stuff. I'm as aromantic as a female can get, so I would probably get sick of weddings and family portraits.
But for now, I'm still practicing and everything helps. Despite my attitude towards couples, I'm supposed to be shooting with a friend and her boyfriend to practice for my wedding. For those of you who didn't read my last journal, I am shooting a wedding at the end of June! It's going to be a small, low-budget family wedding. Still, I'm excited! I have some friends who booked me for their weddings even though they don't even have boyfriends yet. This will be really good for me.
Anyway, I'm going to be late for work. This thunderstorm is beautiful, but it's wet and my car is vulnerable to hydroplaning.

Before I shamelessly promote myself all over the place, I'm gonna boast about my 3.9 GPA!!! That's right!!! I ended my last semester at my original university almost on the President's List!!
My total GPA is now a 3.7. I really deserve something. Maybe if I get into a sorority, I can get scholarships for it!
To celebrate, Mom's taking me to eat crab legs on Shem Creek where the dolphins sometimes swim around next Monday.
Anyway, back to business...I have officially made a Facebook page for my photography! I am not officially a photographer nor have I actually started a business, but it's getting there! Once I get some business classes, hopefully I'll actually know what I'm doing.
Really, I just created it as an alternate portfolio that my friends and their friends can see. Like I said, I'm doing a wedding for my friend's brother, so this might put a little extra cash in my pocket for sororities and studying abroad.

Goals for Summer 2013

Write at least half of my book. Create a portfolio on my own website. Get an apartment & find a decent roommie. Save more money than I spend.Thursday, I'm leaving all these people that I might not see ever again and it's so bittersweet! Especially this one guy. We kind of were a thing, I didn't let anything happen, but we can still be friends and we flirt like crazy and it's awesome and I'm gonna miss him. I'm gonna miss everyone!
I just can't get over that there are significant people in my life now that won't be in a couple of days.
On a less depressing note, I got to see Kenny Chesney and the Zac Brown Band last weekend!! Holy Jesus, they were AMAZING!!!! Not enough good things can be said about them. You might not like their music, but damn, they are talented. Just an amazing performance!!!
Also, this new journal editor is crap. I'm having to do way more work than I have to just to post a journal.

Edit: I just got commissioned to do a wedding!!! This is my first EVER wedding to shoot & I'm soooo excited & adajlfjsafa!!!!! Be on the lookout for that website! I plan to get a facebook page up and an official logo and everything once I get paid this Friday.
